Types of Storz Couplings and Adaptors
Storz couplings feature an identical locking head with no distinct male or female halves. Each locking head is equipped with two lugs and can be fitted with serrated hose tails, female BSPP, male BSPP, or blank caps on the reverse side.
Storz couplings are secured using fitting of the same size and lug dimension, commonly referred to as the Ka distance in millimetres. Standard Ka distances include 31mm, 66mm, 89mm, and 133mm, with other variations available. To accommodate different coupling sizes, we offer a range of reducers that convert one Ka distance to another.
Our Storz couplings are widely used for conveying various fluids and are particularly popular in firefighting. We also provide assembly that combines Storz couplings and adaptors with hose tails and layflat hoses, tailored to your specific requirements.

Choosing the Right Hose Connectors
A reliable hose connection is crucial when used for fire fighting or in an industrial environment. Understanding which fitting is the most appropriate for the job is the first and most important step in selecting the correct adaptor or connector.
Storz fire hose couplings use interlocking lugs that secure with a quarter turn of the coupling, sometimes featuring a locking device for added security.

Storz Hose Coupling Uses
Invented by Carl August Guido Storz in 1882, the Storz connection revolutionised hose couplings by enabling large diameter hoses to connect seamlessly in water transfer applications . This innovative coupling quickly became the standard in the European fire protection market.
Today, Storz adaptors and couplings are widely used by fire departments across both Europe and the United States for large diameter hose applications.

The Storz connection addresses a common challenge faced by firefighters: mismatched couplings. Thread types and coupling standards can vary between different cities, or even buildings, complicating the process of connecting hoses to standpipes. Storz connectors eliminate this issue with a universal design.
